Apple Pay Yay or Nay? Leslie Brown Discusses Mobile Payments at Wipro Digital Meetup
January 20, 2015
Our researchers at Sachs Insights are knowledgeable about an amazing array of industries. Leslie Brown, one of our Directors of Research and Consulting, has a deep understanding of how consumers think –especially when it comes to mobile payments. On January 15, she was a panelist at the Wipro Digital “Digital Pod New York” where she gave her input on the topic.

Other participants included Karen Pascoe SVP - Group Head, of User Experience at MasterCard Worldwide and Paul Karsten Director of Engineering of Wipro Digital. Specifically, Leslie discussed how consumers perceive the roles of mobile payments compared to other payment options.
"As a starting point, I can share my first experience using Apple Pay at Whole Foods. I was pleasantly surprised how my iPhone was recognized and my thumbprint authentication eased the transaction. But that wasn’t enough: I still had to enter my PIN on the POS system. Why? Is that an Apple or Whole Foods issue? Is it an experience or a technology flaw? Either way, I walked away unimpressed, concluding that mobile payments are actually more difficult than using my debit card." Leslie Brown, Director, Research & Consulting Sachs Insights
Using her experience with Apple Pay as a spring board, she questioned how ready companies actually are in implementing mobile transactions. Check out the 6-minute highlight reel below for Leslie’s point of view.
