Pinterest: The New E-Commerce Destination?
June 3, 2015

Pinterest’s “buyable pins” at no cost to merchant or buyer could make what was primarily sharable inspiration, a huge e-commerce play.
What’s interesting here? The sheer volume of Pinterest activity gives lesser known brands with unique products a (hopefully) seamless platform to reach millions of buyers.
What are the implications for the business models of eBay, Etsy and other “curators” and aggregators of product? Imagine having a board so customized (e.g. jade elephants) that with a click or two, a pin becomes a purchase. Further, this niche interest has relevant treasures pushed regularly.

For a collector like me, it sounds potentially fabulous…and dangerous, though definitely worth the risk.
